Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day! I do not have time to write this as I am swamped in reading for Seminary, but I felt compelled to say a few things so here it is.
Consider this a little hodgepodge bit of Valentine wisdom.
First, I am reminded today in my reading how faithful God is to us. I know how dark these sorts of holidays can feel when we are in devastating crises. But remember what He said to Joshua. We have every reason to believe He says it to us today…when we feel devastatingly lonely or hurt or afraid. ” No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Josh. 1:5). How awesome is that truth? That is what your Redeemer says. Forget flowers. That love note from God certainly trumps those.
....But don’t forget flowers completely. I remember a friend of mine telling me a beautiful story years ago. She was single and everyone else was not. She felt particularly lonely and noticed on this holiday that all of her coworkers had flowers from a significant other. She was out driving later that day, feeling down, and said to the Lord, “Everyone else got flowers. I just want flowers. I want to feel special and loved too.” (I’m paraphrasing because I heard the story several years ago). And then she said she noticed she was driving by an entire field of flowers. And she felt the Lord saying, “See, I’ll give you flowers.” That is the Lover that pursues your souls, ladies. Don’t overlook Him!
Lastly, I saw an awesome quote from Maya Angelou that I think we should all live our lives by. (I never thought I’d say that about a Maya Angelou quote—go figure).
“A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.”
Lots of agape right back at you ladies,
