Thanksgiving 2007

Last year we were thankful for Grace (for a walk down memory lane, see last year’s post below). But we’re over that. Ha ha ha! Just kidding. This year we are thankful that vengence is the Lord’s. So we grab our popcorn and box seats to watch what happens next. Once again, just kidding! (Sometimes you’ve just gotta laugh). We know that we are so blessed. In a thousand ways. We are thankful for the passage of time, that healing is inevitable. You can’t stop the clock. We are thankful that God is infinite because we need Him to be more than ever. If we knew last year that we would still be in the healing transitional stage, we would have wigged out. But here we are and we are so thankful to be here because it is a heck of a lot better than it was last year at this time. Can I get an amen?! There is a peace here knowing that we have done what the Lord has asked us to do in our marriages. We sit here
thankful for grace (for us, for them, for you) and for the refining fire…knowing and trusting that God will make us better
than we were last year if we are willing. And that this next year has 365 more days of healing and growth. It ain’t easy. But it’s worth it.
Thanksgiving 2006
Romans 5:20 “But where sin increased, Grace increased all the more.” Thanksgiving…for what? It is so hard to find the energy or desire to be thankful when our lives seem to be overshadowed by such despairing events. It’s easier to drown in the sadness of what ought to have been. But, God calls us to a higher standard—to exhibit grace even in this. That is what oneP3 means. Being gentle and quiet despite our circumstances. Jesus was this way in everything he did. We have so much to be thankful for. It seems cliched to say that sometimes, but something became very clear to me today. I am thankful for Grace. For God’s grace for me that will “restore the years the locusts have eaten” (Joel 2:25). For God’s grace for our husbands’ sins. For God’s grace for all of us sinners. And for God’s omniscient expectation that we walk in Grace for others. This is what it means to be a Christian. This is what it means to follow Christ’s example. When everything else seems bleak, be thankful for Grace. Grace—by U2She takes the blame
She covers the shame
Removes the stain
It could be her nameGrace
It’s a name for a girl
It’s also a thought that
Changed the world
And when she walks on the street
You can hear the strings
Grace finds goodness In everything
Grace
She’s got the walk
Not on a wrapper on chalk
She’s got the time to talk
She travels outside Of karma,
karma
She travels outside Of karma
When she goes to work
You can hear the strings
Grace finds beauty In everything
Grace
She carries a world on her hips
No champagne flute for her lips
No twirls or skips
Between her fingertips
She carries a pearl In perfect condition
What once was hers
What once was friction
What left a mark
No longer stains
Because grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things
Grace finds beauty
In everything
Grace finds goodness
In everything
