Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives...let it be incorruptable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:1

Holding on

Sometimes holding on to hope and trusting the Lord in the midst of such intense crises seems impossible and futile at best. It never is, of course, because we have a Savior who is intent upon saving us when we call out to Him. Sometimes saving looks like we hope it will, taking us out of the trial. Sometimes saving us means keeping us in the fire to purify us from our own baggage. Sometimes saving us means getting in the fire with us and showing us who He is in a new light. Whatever it ends up meaning for each unique situation, we know that it will be the expression of God’s faithfulness to us. Sometimes we just have to hold on.

Marinate in some truth for a moment. Your King will come.

“It is easy to say you believe a rope to be strong and sound as long as you are merely using it to cord a box. But suppose you had to hang by that rope over a precipice. Wouldn’t you then first discover how much you really trusted it?” ——C.S. Lewis A Grief Observed

Psalm 34:4-6 “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. This poor woman cried out, and the LORD heard her and saved her out of all her troubles.”
v. 18 “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite heart.”

“Hanging on. You’re all that’s left to hold on to. I’m still waiting. I’m hanging on. You’re all that’s left to hold on to.—-Bono
