Dog
By:Katie
That’s right……a Dog. Here’s how it happened. I wake every night between 1:30 and 2 AM. My eyes open and I can’t sleep for hours. I sit in the hall way and pray for my boys, my family, my friends, and my FH. God has spoken in these early hours. One night, as I was praying, He said “Dog.” I am dyslexic so I asked Him if He said “God?” Nope….It was Dog. As I argued and told the Lord I have enough on my plate (Like He does not already know) I decided to keep praying about it. I did several searches online and it came up with the same dog…same rescue. The rescue was over and hour away from where we live. I prayed and prayed about it. I felt like it was the right thing to do. God seemed to be prompting me and loaded my kids in the van and went to pick up this new family member. She was such a sweet dog and was a wonderful addition. The boys love her and it was so much fun to see them play with her and help care for her. When I got home I was a little depressed just thinking that my FH and I should be doing this together. Here I am with 2 kids and a dog? I hit me hard that I was alone. I know a dog can help teach my boys compassion and responsibility. I am thankful for the company and the unconditional love…..not to mention the protection. To date she has warned me about a bat in the house. (see later post) She woke me up when my grandmother fell in the middle of the night. She has licked tears off my face many times. It’s hard to believe that God, in speaking that one word, should me that He has a plan for me. All I have to do is trust. As we have entered this next phase of our life, we gave our dog to another family. My kids have been wonderful in dealing with loss of her, and the hope of another dog some day.
