We had a reader recommend a book to us…awhile ago. We both read it, and are NOW just getting around to putting a post up about it….so here we go….
“A Grace Disguised” By: Jerry Sittser
Wow. We both thought it was great. It is the true story of a single dad that lost his mother, daughter, and wife in a car accident. He talks very openly about grief. He says that no matter what pain you are going through….suffering is the same across the board. For me, (LS) it was refreshing to read about how to grieve and how it is a confusing process. We recommend it, just as a look at understanding pain and suffering and the stages of it. It is all about embracing the pain you MUST walk through.
Here are some quotes from the book
“Is it really useful to decide whose losses are worse? I could give many other examples. Every week I hear stories about people’s pain. I have probably always heard these stories, but until I experienced loss myself, I did not listen intently to them or let those stories penetrate the protective shell around my heart. I am more sensitive to the pain now, not as oblivious and selfish as I used to be.”
“ Often the most helpful people have endured suffering themselves and turned their pain into a motivation to serve others.”
Can we get an AMEN? That is what onep3 is all about…….not our DH’s that did……FILL IN THE BLANK….it is about what God is doing in us and through us.
Thank you for the suggestion!!!!
